4.6 out of 5 stars 4,092 ratings

‘This urban fantasy series has everything! You can count on Steve Higgs to deliver suspense-filled stories that steal your sleep. AND they're really funny!'
**Complete series**

These aren’t the kind of people you find looking through the want ads: Otto the wand-carrying wizard, Zac the giant werewolf, and Anastasia a five foot, hundred pound menace to society. They don’t know each other, but they must come together to save humanity because there’s an ancient secret buried in the Earth’s past and it’s about to bite the planet in the butt.

What if all Earth’s religions were based on a single lie told so long ago that no one remembers it? The false gods, powerful beings able to draw magical energy through the power of the planet, were trapped in a demon realm more than 4000 years ago. But the curse that sent them there is weakening.

They are coming back, forcing their way into our realm ... our mortal realm. They know with unshakable certainty that nothing on Earth can stand against them …

… but there are things they don’t know. They left a little magic behind and humanity had better hope it's enough.

Join an ensemble cast as heroes rise, whether they want to or not.

Read Untethered Magic, and ten more action-packed stories now for a fraction of the cost of buying them individually but be prepared to have sore ribs from laughing too hard!

The Realm of False Gods features multiple protagonists, their stories overlapping and intertwining as the planet rushes toward a cataclysm no one can see coming.

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Many characters that are very believable and some that are less believable but quite funny. It is a very good read, I didn't want to put it down. In defense of our armed forces, humans, I want to point out that we would have been training snipers and waiting for the curse to fall. There are way too many people who are already trained in asymmetrical warfare for any demon to be safe on earth.

I was a tad confused by the ending but all in all a great series.

I liked the complexity, the intricate interaction of all the characters, the combination of specific characters to obtain solutions and sustain the story line. There is so much to capture a readers attention and it takes you down so many roads and avenues. This series really excited the imagination and revved my desire to see where it was going.
It touched the realms of my youths illusions of different timelines and dimensions and it did it well.

I enjoyed this series. It gripped me from beginning to end. Towards the 2nd half of the series, I wondered how the author will end the story. I did not expect it. I wish the main characters were still connected at the end. Highly recommended.

Very much enjoyed this series. Fun & original, with great characters - I liked both the antagonists & protagonists - all felt well developed with nuanced personalities & flaws. I thought there were maybe a couple inconsistencies across the books, but overall a great read for fantasy fans.
